The story
Tika means "flower" 🌺 in Quechua, the native language of Perú — the land where I was born. Since childhood, Tika has lived within me as a dream: a container for my creations, imagination, and inner worlds. I am Flor de Maria Alarcón Chuquimia, a hand-hearted creator whose work moves through music, painting, knitting, photography, and craft.
The idea for Tika Straps was seeded when I was a child, watching artisan women in my town weave together — laughing, teaching, sharing stories. Years later, back in Perú, I envisioned this ancestral art transformed into something I could wear while playing guitar. My inner child and my adult dreamer, embracing each other.
The women behind these straps are a collective from Chinchero, Cusco. They inherited this craft from their mothers and grandmothers — sustaining their families through weaving, honoring a living tradition rooted in patience and resilience. All materials are 100% organic: sheep wool dyed naturally with plants. Each strap takes time, and that time is love.
I feel deeply grateful to collaborate with these artisans, carrying their work into the world — across homes and stages, meeting creative hearts everywhere. Thank you for being here and for choosing us.
